Advocacy seems to be an unescapable part of the “job” of living with a spinal cord injury (and probably any sort of chronic illness or “atypical” body).
It is SO helpful when users of accessibility features share your experiences. There is so much that is easy to miss when you aren't needing/using them yourself. Just as it feels unfair for people of color to always have to call out racism, it's unfair that people with disabilities are left having to call out ableism (or just inaccessibilities or inconvenience), but when you're the one impacted, those things are especially vivid and salient. Thanks for doing this work.
I need to do so much more of you are doing! I love that you are advocating for all of us! I have encountered all that you are saying and having only been handicapped for 2 years, I realize that I would not have noticed what handicapped people have to go through before my surgery unless you live in their shoes. Great job, Debbie!
Excellent work that I’m sorry you’re called on to do!
Well stated, my friend! I’ll be very interested to see what/if you eventually hear from OCP.
